Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To

Ghost Controls uses a fairly consistent hardware platform across their lineup, but there are compatibility gotchas worth knowing before you buy a part or schedule a weld. The axle and hinge bracket geometry differs between the AXDP, AXD, and AX1 series when compared to the newer R series and TSS1 solar models. The older AXD series used a cast aluminum post bracket that tends to crack at the lower mounting bolt hole. The R series switched to a stamped steel bracket that rusts less but bends more. If your opener arm connects to the gate with a clevis pin, you’re on an AXD or AXDP. If it uses a bolt-through swivel mount, it’s an R series or TSS1.

Every Ghost Controls opener has a model plate on the underside of the motor housing. Before you order any fabrication part, take a photo of that plate and measure the distance between the two post bracket bolts, center to center. That measurement alone tells us which of the three bracket patterns you have, and saves a wasted trip.
